| USHUAIA A village founded by Argentineans descending from Spanish and Italians over a hundred years ago, with a population of 70 000 inhabitants. Walking through the village, it is possible to find all needed items by visiting the shopping centre and its numerous Internet points, stores, excellent coffee shops and local restaurants. Ushuaia, better known as the most Southern city in the world or the end of the world, was built along the northern side of the Beagle Canal and is surrounded by the Darwin Glaciers. The sky is tainted with an incredible deep blue, and during the austral summer season, the days are pleasantly shining with sun. The temperature varies between 12 to 20 centigrades (Celsius) and the air is very pure, rendering the atmosphere clear and bright. Sailing up towards the West of the Canal, and at a distance of about 100 miles, one can admire the Darwin Glacier. Descending eastward and then South, it is possible to reach Cape Horn by passing the Chilean ports of Williams and Toro. |
